Top tips to make the most of the new year rush

Believe it or not, 2019 is just around the corner and for your swim school or leisure centre business that could mean you’re about to get very busy as families flock to your swimming pools for the summer. Or even experience a lull as they travel away for the holidays. Either way, over Christmas and New Year’s, and even between terms, you’re bound to notice an attendance drop off which means it’s the perfect time to prep for the new year rush.

Let’s go through some top tips to help you make the most of the new year rush with your club management software.

Prep your club management software

While your leisure centre or swim school is quiet over the holiday season, take advantage of the slow time by getting your admin work sorted. Make sure your stock levels are up to date and prepped for the new year, revise your class times to meet the needs of more of your members, and revisit your staff roster to make sure it’s working well for everyone. It’s also the perfect time to prep enrolments for the upcoming term.

When it comes to prepping for your new swim school term, managing enrolments can be one of the most time consuming tasks particularly if you need to set up any new databases. With Centaman, you can streamline this whole set up process through bulk enrolments so you can make big changes without taking up too much of your valuable time.

Focus on your staff

As your centre starts to experience its lull, take the time to make sure your staff are all up to speed on processes and procedures within the centre. Run through ideas of how to handle problems that arise in your facility, and how to manage disgruntled members in certain scenarios.

For instance, perhaps a member walks up to your reception desk in a huff, demanding to cancel and needing to be refunded. Instead of your receptionist attempting to have this tricky conversation as other members walk through the area, have the receptionist direct the member to the manager on duty, where they can have a proper sit down conversation with the member away from the front desk.

When you re-establish your expectations for the year and re-educate your staff on what they can do to help meet those expectations, you’ll be in a much better position to make the most of the new year rush.

Spring clean your facility

During your quiet period, take an audit of all the equipment in your facility that may need repair or replacing and do so before the new year so it doesn’t interfere too much with the day to day activities for your members that do come over the holidays. When your members are in the full swing of their routine, it can be tricky to close off an area, such as a pool, for maintenance without it affecting both of your schedules. Doing these activities between terms is the perfect time to reduce the impact on your members.

A massive pro of making sure your equipment appears all shiny and new for 2019 is giving members that brand-new-club feel. This is especially great for new members to create a winning first impression, and it helps add value for your existing members.
